It’s like a breath of fresh air

Maxxfan

A MaxxFan doesn’t just improve your motorhome- it rescues you from stuffy nights, steamy cooking sessions, and that “why does it smell like this?” moment. With fresh air constantly flowing and stale air drifting away, your space feels cleaner and far more comfortable. It’s quiet, it’s clever and once you’ve used Maxxfan, you’ll wonder how you ever survived without it.

Maxxfan explained

The MaxxFan is a multi-functional roof-mounted ventilation system designed specifically for campervans, motorhomes, and caravans. Unlike a standard roof vent, which relies solely on passive airflow, the MaxxFan includes a built-in 10-speed reversible fan that can draw air in or push warm air out, providing consistent ventilation regardless of weather conditions.

Its biggest advantage over basic vents is its integrated rain cover, allowing you to leave it open in the rain without worry. Whether you’re cooking, sleeping, or just trying to keep the van cool, the MaxxFan offers far better airflow control and comfort, especially during summer or in off-grid setups where temperature regulation is key.

MaxxFan units are designed to fit standard rooflight openings, typically 400mm x 400mm, which are common across many motorhomes and campervans. However, some conversions or older vans may require adjustments depending on the roof thickness, curvature, or presence of other installations like solar panels or interior cabinets.

Before fitting, a technician will assess whether reinforcement or trim kits are needed for your specific vehicle. In rare cases, minor roof modifications might be required. It’s always recommended to have a professional check compatibility to ensure a watertight and secure installation.

The MaxxFan range includes models with added features like remote control operation and automatic rain sensors. The rain sensor is particularly handy for the UK climate, as it automatically closes the vent when it detects rain, a great safety net if you’re out for the day or asleep.

Remote-controlled versions are useful if the fan is mounted in a hard-to-reach spot, such as over a fixed bed or high ceiling. While these features aren’t essential, they definitely add convenience and peace of mind, especially for full-time travellers or those who regularly camp in varied weather conditions.

The MaxxFan is known for being impressively quiet on its lower fan settings- many users report being able to sleep with it running overnight. This makes it perfect for subtle, consistent airflow during warmer evenings or when you’re trying to reduce condensation without the noise of a typical fan.

At higher speeds, the fan noise is more noticeable, but that’s to be expected when you’re moving a large volume of air. These higher settings are useful during the day for rapid cooling, clearing steam or cooking smells, or expelling hot air build-up when returning to a warm van.

A standard MaxxFan installation takes approximately 2 to 4 hours, depending on whether it’s a direct swap for an existing roof vent or a completely new installation. If structural support or wiring needs to be added, this may extend the time slightly, but most jobs can be completed the same day.

At Bristol Caravans (or your chosen installer), you don’t need to leave your vehicle overnight. Many customers choose to relax on-site or visit local shops and cafés while the work is carried out, we’ll keep you updated throughout the process and call you when it’s ready.

One of the standout features of the MaxxFan is that it can be safely operated even while you’re on the move. Unlike standard vents that need to be closed when driving, the MaxxFan’s integrated rain shield and low-profile design make it stable and secure for use during travel.

This is especially useful if you want to maintain airflow for pets, passengers, or general air circulation during long journeys. Whether it’s on low speed to remove heat or high speed to keep air moving, the MaxxFan helps create a more comfortable travel environment without worrying about wind damage or rain intrusion.

“We arrived at Llanfyllin, and it was raining so hard it was difficult to find our plot. Once parked up, it took just 90 seconds as we let our automatic levelling system get us level. Thank you, Bristol Caravans, for fitting our amazing levelling system.”
