FAQs
The mains cable (usually orange) is used to connect the caravan, motorhome or campervan to the site electrics. The orange 230v cable is external to the caravan, motorhome or campervan and sits on the ground. It’s orange so that people can see it easily. As it is an external part it can be damaged, therefore it is part of the yearly service inspection. If damaged, this part should be replaced. If you have any concerns regarding 230v cables and appliances contact Bristol Caravans 01454 612 893.
The first thing to check is the site electrics. Use a short cable adaptor (round to square), then plug in a standard household mains socket tester. If the test shows a fault or no electric present speak to the site owner/manager. If the site electrics are OK, plug your orange 230v cable into the site electrics and check the other end of the orange cable. If the cable is OK, plug the cable into your caravan, motorhome, or campervan, and plug your tester into a socket inside your vehicle. If there is no power at the internal socket, go to your onboard consumer unit. Look at your consumer unit, you will have different switches. If the MCB has tripped, this means you have overloaded a circuit. Disconnect everything you have plugged into sockets, and reset the MCB. Electric should now be back on inside your vehicle. If the RCD has tripped (this is a safety switch), please find a qualified person to complete further investigation.
